Most water earplugs work by filling the ear canal completely. That keeps water out, but it also cuts you off - from the set behind you, from your coach, from the sound you use to judge where you are.
SEAR uses an acoustic pathway designed to keep water out of the ear canal while allowing ambient sound to pass through.

Water out, sound in
The pathway resists water while remaining open to air, so ambient sound still reaches the eardrum. Fit, ear anatomy and water conditions all affect the seal.
No plugged sensation
Because the pathway is not a sealed cavity, you avoid the blocked-up feeling of solid plugs. This is a comfort and awareness benefit, not a pressure-equalisation device.
Built to be used again
SEAR Plugs are reusable. Rinse and dry them after use and store them in the case.

Are SEAR Plugs made from medical-grade silicone?
Yes. SEAR Plugs are made from soft, medical-grade silicone. It is independently tested by SGS and passes EU REACH (all 251 substances of very high concern), RoHS and POPs regulations and the US TSCA rules, with no PVC, halogens or nitrosamines detected.
Are SEAR Plugs hypoallergenic?
Yes. The silicone is hypoallergenic and comfortable against skin for long sessions. If you have a known silicone sensitivity, check with your doctor first.
Are SEAR Plugs completely waterproof?
Yes. Fitted correctly, SEAR Plugs form a waterproof seal in the ear canal. The seal comes from the fit, which is why four wing sizes and three tip sizes are in the box - twelve combinations to get it right.
Is the case waterproof?
The case keeps the pair together between sessions, closes magnetically and clips to a bag or wetsuit key loop with the carabiner.
Can I use them for scuba diving?
No. Diving guidance advises against earplug use when scuba diving because of pressure effects. SEAR is designed for surface water sports.
